The curriculum centers on competent assessment of pain in nursing home residents, including those with moderate to severe dementia; the focus is on recognizing, measuring, and reporting pain, including recording the pain location and severity in the MDS. The curriculum addresses the correct entry of pain assessment data into the MDS.
